Business planning is our topic for today’s show. Rick started the show off with his take on “Business Planning or Planning Your Business.” Let’s face it ever business needs some kind of plan, even a one-page plan, to help the business owner remain accountable and on track.
Dick, the GM and owner of Lone Star Community Radio chimed in to update us a special event coming up on July 2nd here in the Montgomery County area. Sandra Louvier, Director of Center for Entrepreneurship, HCC Northwest and the winners of the 2017 HCC-New Spring Business Plan Competition joined us to talk about the annual business competition and the real benefits to business owners to participate in the event.
Dr. Doris Taylor of Stem Cell Security, the first-place winner, of the competition talks about the idea behind Stem Cell Security. She also walks us through the steps in the competition including the all-important education piece.
Kiley Summers the founder of SpenDebt whose presentation won second-place offers his advice on competing in the business plan part of the program. Kiley has previous experience in other business plan competition, but he explains how this program met the needs his company at this point in its growth.
Third-place winner Deidre Mathis, founder of Wanderlust Houston, a millennial travel focused ventured closed out the show. Deidre, who has extensive travel experience, shows how you can identify a need based on your own life experiences. Her firm provides the budget conscious millennial traveler an alternative to expensive overnight lodgings.
