Michael Berry became a home inspector as a second career. Previously he had worked for a large corporation in their mechanical maintenance department as a shift supervisor. This gave him the experience in how things mechanical worked and how a mechanical system should work. As it worked out, his curiosity of finding and fixing things and his job experience provided the perfect background for a home inspector.
He is in his second full year as an inspector and he has fallen completely in love with his work. He will go almost anywhere to do a job, even though he advertises a 100-mile radius. He looks at part of job as an being an educator in teaching home owners how to properly maintain their home’s systems. As he says, a home should be a family’s refuge not a money pit.
