2.1.17 – 4-H and Junior Master Gardeners – The Extension Hour

From 4-H clubs to gardening in schools!

Did you know that 4-H is more than cows and plows? It’s about leadership, citizenship, and helping your community! Today on The Extension Hour, Caroline Cruz, County Extension Agent, was joined by Kayla, a 4-H member. Kayla is in high school and is very active in 4-H and community service. Her 4-H Club has volunteered at the East Texas Dream Center, and she told us about their needs. Other guests today included Merrie Decker who is a Montgomery County Master Gardener, Susan Buchholz who is a 4th grade teacher at Bear Branch Elementary, and Laura Atchetee, a parent volunteer. We discussed the very active Junior Master Gardener Program at Bear Branch, where students are gardening, growing veggies, wildflowers, and helping Monarch butterflies thrive.
